THE SEISMOWIN PROJECT
The
SEISMOWIN project is taking is current shape with the development of a
series of software running in Windows environement that are extremely
flexible and simple to use.
Final goal is to allow personnel of any technical skill, even with limited knowledge, to mantain and manage a seismic network. This page illustrate the development planned for the SEISMOWIN. Our developing activity proceed without a cent of public money or public resources so it proceed one step at a time according to the resources available at the company. Application of this porject falls not only in seismic networks but also in civil engineering and geophysics. Following the components of SEISMOWIN are listed and they can be used standalone or in combinations of other components in order to achieve the user's requirements. |

SEISMOWIN
is a software series that is not a single application. Originally it
was related to what is today called SEISMOLOG-EDU and that it still one
of the most used software for seismology and physics education.
Today the SEISMOWIN software package include a wide range of applications and it is composed by modules that cooperates to manage data flows from single stations, small seismic network up to medium size networks as well as arrays. The block diagram shows interaction among the modules with respect to the digitally acquired seismic signal. As first step this signal has to be correctly stored and then interpreted. The archiving process is accomplished in at least two stages, one is preliminary and it is related to the acquisition process itself that is performed by a data transmission over a certain data carrier that can be in real time, near real time or not in real time; the second stage is the correlation analysis of the various received waveforms that brings to the coincidence evaluation and to the event declaration. The interpretation of the seismic signal is a process of several steps, first the signal has to be digitally processed for the restitution from the raw data expressed in count to the wanted measurement unit (displacement, velocity or acceleration). This process is called deconvolution. After this the process of interpretation begins but this is up to the geologists, seismologists, and civil engineers. In the next sections functions of various module are briefly explained nevetheless to summarize we can say that SEISMOLINK and SEISMONET are modules dedicated to the non real time data collection or near real time. SEISMONET can also be used as data transmitter from site to site but always in non real time or near real time mode. SEISMOSERVER, SEISMOLOG and SEISMOLOG-EDU accomplish the recording of the seismic signal in real time. SEISMODRUM and SEISMODRUMFFT works for plotting the signal respectively in time and frequency domain. All modules uses the so called SEISMIC DATABASE that is a collection of file organized in the file system in order to have a good and quick data retrieve process. SEISMOLOG-MTis a specific software for data recording in real time dedicated to the seismic site response evaluation and useful for the usefulness analysis of a place as seismic station or to check the geological properties of the site for civil engineering purposes. SEISMOSURVEY, SEISMODESK e SEISMOREPORTare dedicated to the preliminary analysis of the seismic signal, they accomplish the the deconvolution process, phase reading and report of a seismic event. SEISMORESP can compute the system transfer function of virtually all kind of instruments and sensors providing "meta-data" in the most common formats. Other modules exists also not reported in the block diagram, modules dedicated to auxiliary functions like the SEISMOCONV that can accomplish conversion between many seismic formats. A small description of all modules are now provided. The assigned market value of each one is reported for who wants to register the software without purchase any our instrument.
